I have just finished a meeting related to my end of life doula / thanadoula training. I can’t wait to be fully certified in June this year. This additional modality will complement my grief education and support work.
What is an End-of-Life or Death Doula?
An end-of-life or death doula is someone who companions the dying and their loved ones. This person provides information, comfort and support around the end-of-life journey.
What are the benefits of working with an end-of-life doula?
Dying is something we all eventually do, but we don’t often discuss it. Having conversations about death and being companioned by someone who is comfortable with and knowledgeable about the process can help bring deep meaning and sacredness for all.
My mission as an End of Life Doula is to educate, raise awareness, empower, and provide emotional support to my clients and their family during any stage of death and dying. Whenever possible, my commitment is to provide the guidance and support needed for a peaceful death.
This is a huge part of my calling and it is so important to me to raise awareness as regards the end of life doulas. We are not part of the medical staff and are an additional support to people reaching the end of life and their loved ones.
I work in Ireland, France and Switzerland and I work in English and French.
Feel free to share this post so we can raise awareness as regards this emerging role. Together let’s change how we handle death, dying and grief…
Take care all.
With much love as always,
Nadija X
